From 1973 to 1975, Jack volunteered his own time to assist in the field of "organizing the unorganized" in the state of Pennsylvania for the IUE, AFL-CIO.
In 1974, Jack was asked to join the IUE International Staff and for the next ten years, he worked all over the United States, servicing the already established IUE Locals and organizing new locals throughout the country.
In 1985, Jack was appointed Director of District 1 for the IUE. He retained this title until 1996, when he was appointed Assistant Organizing Director for the International Union.
As of December 31, 2003, Jack left IUE-CWA to work full time at the Labor Council, here in Allegheny County.
Jack's involvement with the Allegheny County Labor Council, which represents 113,000 workers in the Allegheny County, goes back to 1985. He became on of the Vice-Presidents of the ACLC, AFL-CIO, and in 1990 he was asked to serve as their COPE Director.
In 1998, the ACLC Executive Board elected Jack to the position of Executive Vice-President.
On May 7, 1998, Jack was elected as President of the ACLC, to fill the term of the late Paul Stackhouse, Sr. He was then re-elected on December 3, 1998 for a two-year term.
On December 7, 2000, Jack was re-elected and is currently serving as President of the ACLC, AFL-CIO.
Jack serves on several authorities, boards and committees in the community, too numerous to mention.
Jack has been a life-long resident of the Pittsburgh area, and now resides in Allison Park with his wife, Carol. They have two grown children, John and Shelly, six grandsons and one brand-new great-grandson, Drake.
